• L'agro-alimentaire

Carbon Credits

 European Carbon Fund

The purpose of the ECF is to finance the carbon component of environmentally friendly projects and provide liquidity to the new European carbon market. The ECF purchases, mainly project-based, carbon assets on a forward basis from developing or transition countries, and therefore contributes to the successful financing of such projects. These carbon assets will later contribute to increase the liquidity on the EU ETS.

Initiated by two major European banks (French Caisse des Dépôts [cf. http://www.ixis-cib.com/] and Belgian/Dutch Fortis Bank) in april 2005 and managed by IXIS Environnement & Infrastructures, ECF successfully raised €142,5m from several investment-grade financial institutions.

 Powernext

Powernext Carbon is a spot market of CO2 allowances. The market model is the result of a three-fold partnership between Powernext, Caisse des Dépôts and Euronext. Powernext Carbon counts close to 40 active members. More than 4.5 Million tonnes of CO2 have been traded in 2005 (launch of the market on 24 June). Powernext Carbon has made a name for itself as the most liquid CO2 allowances spot market in Europe to date.

 Meteo France

The Weather Risk Management Association (WRMA), founded in 1999, is dedicated to advocating issues affecting weather risk management, providing forums for discussion and interaction among our members, supplying information to end-users, and most importantly facilitating the growth of a vibrant industry. The Weather Risk Management Association (WRMA) was developed to assist companies in managing the extent to which their revenue is affected by uncontrollable weather patterns. It is an industry that has thrived and succeeded in presenting financial weather products as marketable and economically productive assets to a company's profitability. The financial benefit of managing weather risk is evident in the surge of traders, brokers, insurers and government agencies that are eager participants in the industry of risk management. WRMA has brought to the forefront the significance of this industry and provides a standard of operation and business practices in the form of Standardized Contracts/ConfirmsValerie COOPER

Biosaline Agricultural Research

International Center for Biosaline Agriculture(ICBA) - ICBA's mission is to demonstrate the value of saline water resources for the production of environmentally and economically useful plants and to transfer the results to national research services and communities in the Islamic World and elsewhere. ICBA mandate is to develop sustainable management systems to irrigate food and forage crops and ornamental plants with saline water and to provide a resource of salt-tolerant plants for socio-economic development in arid and semi-arid areas and salt-affected areas of the Islamic World and elsewhere

Halophyte Biotechnology Center - The Mission of this Center is: 1. To improve salt-tolerant crops for use in salt-afflicted agroecosystems using biotechnology. 2. To develop varieties of plants for saline wetlands restoration that will drive high productivity ecosystems without continual human input. 3. To disseminate knowledge about using salt-tolerant plant varieties to develop sustainable agriculture in areas of the world where soils are salinized or only saline water is available for irrigation and to solve wetland restoration problems. 4. To exchange information on the performance of varieties of salt-tolerant plants under various types of agroecosystems (ie. rainfed, irrigated, tidal) and wetland restoration sites.

The George E. Brown Jr Salinity Laboratory - formerly the United States Salinity Laboratory, is a World renowned US laboratory for basic research on the chemistry, physics, and biology of salt-affected agricultural systems.
